A good part of this increase was driven by the performance of exports in the fresh meat category, which had the best result for a month of April since 1997, when the historical series began. In April 2019, exports in this category totaled 109.8 thousand tons, up 56.7% compared to the same month in 2018.
The result for April was also positive, closing with a volume of 132,855 tons and sales of US$ 502.1 million, up 53.5% and 43.3%, respectively, compared to the same period last year. “The results show the quality and competitiveness of Brazilian beef, which is trusted by the main buying markets”, emphasizes the president of Abiec, Antônio Jorge Camardelli.
Regarding the main destinations for Brazilian beef from January to April 2019, the highlights are the growth in volumes shipped to Russia (+1,335.61%), UAE (+349.76%) and Iran (+47 .58%).
